To provide continuous services to the community and the homeless population. The value of community service lies in the fact that it unites us around a common mission of growth and development for all people.
Judy Toney was born into this mission. As a young child she remembers her mother going beyond what seemed reasonable to provide for those who were “less fortunate”. Judy, at the time did not understand why her mother gave food, clothes, and furniture to others when it seemed they were in need. The gift of service is hard to understand unless the gift is born in you. As fate would have it, Judy is now just as committed to the mission as her mother. Judy gives beyond what many see as reasonable. She and her husband, an Air Force veteran, have sacrificed beyond their means to ensure those who are “less fortunate” have food to eat, clothes to wear, furniture and unceasing encouragement in difficult times. She has faced numerous challenges but always finds a way to keep the mission alive for those for whom she has been born to serve.
We have a wonderful staff of dedicated individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Our staff ensures that we are available to provide meals, clothing and supplies to the vast homeless and displaced community in the Fayetteville area.
One of our greatest joys is having people join us in the work to serve our community. Families, church groups, city/county officials and many others have volunteered their time and talents to ensuring our work is a success.
Former County Commissioner Charles Evans commits his support of the work we do in the Cumberland County community. The work of Combined Unified a 501 (c) 3 , has been acknowledged by the City of Fayetteville, NC. The Governor’s office has also acknowledged the work of Combined Unified by awarding Judy Toney the Governor’s Volunteer Achievement Award. Numerous community partners (Stores, Churches, Schools, Non-profits), have acknowledged our value as they continue to collaborate with us. More importantly, however, those we serve continuously express appreciation for what we do, and many have begun to give back in gratitude for the hand-up we gave them when they were in need.
We need you to join our efforts by becoming a donor to rebuild our service center. We have an anonymous donor who has committed to match each donation up to $60,000. The city of Fayetteville is also considering additional support. However, we must show our commitment. $40,000 in 40 days is our must achieve goal. Click on the link and make a donation today!
